On an average day, a person looking to build muscle and gain knowledge on how to do so will come across thousands upon thousands of ads about a protein supplement. These ads will usually use taglines such as “BUY NO123 AND YOU WILL GAIN 30 POUNDS OF MUSCLE IN A WEEK” or other unrealistic quotes to lure you into buying these MUST HAVE protein supplements.

Let me ASSURE YOU that there is no protein supplement out there that will allow you to gain thirty pounds of muscle in a week. Only certain illegal *cough* substances can increase your testosterone enough to gain results usually impossible.

Reading this hub will allow you to understand the protein supplements that you will want to buy if you are looking to gain muscle. These protein supplements are completely natural, relatively cheap, and will only help in your goal to look like Schwarzenegger (if that is your goal of course! =)

Creatine

I’m sure if you’re reading this you’ve heard some little tid bits about Creatine. Some might hear that it’s the legal equivalent to steroids or that once you stop doing it you will lose MASSIVE amounts of muscle.

Im here to assure you that those statements are the farthest things from the truth.sSo then what is creatine? Good Question! Basically, creatine is naturally produced by the body and is used to supply energy to our muscles. Creatine is completely natural and many of the foods you eat every day have traces of creatine in them. Such foods are red meats and most fish you can think of.

Well then why is creatine such a recommended protein supplement in the muscle building process? Creatine does things such as sending more testosterone to help pump up those muscles even more. Creatine is also a protein supplement that is scientifically proven to make those workouts much more effective and will reduce recovery times. That means that when you come home from a workout and are SO SORE the next day, taking the protein supplement will only help.

These are just some pros of this wonderful, naturally occurring, protein supplement and I suggest you go out and buy this CHEAP powder!

Multivitamin

Multivitamins! While they might not be the most attractive or best tasting products, they can immensely help in your journey for muscle success and are a recommended protein supplement. Once you start working out your body will desire a vast amount of nutrients. Most, and I mean 99 percent, of people will not be able to supplement all the nutrients needed to fulfill this deficiency and will look to take protein supplements such as multivitamins.

These wonderful pills will include vitamins that you may have never even heard of but know that all of these will only help.

Most multivitamins will do as long as they are recommended and widely accepted. You will want to take the multi right early in the morning.

Whey Protein

WHEY! The only protein supplement that you will not be able to live without if you are looking to gain muscle. Whey protein will become your best friend (as a protein supplement) while lifting weight and dieting. It will fill the necessary protein amounts that you will be required to intake every day.

Whey protein is also a natural substance that is found in many common foods and liquids that you have every day! Whey protein is very rich in amino acids, vitamins, and many other necessary minerals. It has been scientifically proven to increase protein synthesis among many other health benefits.

This protein supplement is the fastest acting supplement and will usually take affect within thirty minutes of consumption (You know what that means!) You will want to consume the powder within thirty minutes of your workout as this protein supplement is intended to be a PWO (Post workout) supplement. The protein will immediately feed the muscles that are starving from all that lifting!

These powders usually have twenty five to thirty grams of protein depending on the scoop provided in the tub. Depending on body weight and nutritional plan, you will want to consume two to three scoops of the protein supplement every day. That means non-workout days too!

Casein Protein

Now that you have read about the glorious whey protein, you may think to yourself, “Well then what protein supplement do I take when I am not working out.”

This is the question that casein protein will answer. Casein Protein is the polar opposite of the fast acting whey protein. It contains eighty percent of milk protein and is extremely slow to digest. The Casein will slowly work its way through your body, still feeding the muscles with the needed protein, but over a span of four to five hours.

You might wonder then what times are optimal to take Casein. The best consumed time would be right before bed as it will allow your body to not go into a catabolic state while you are resting. In simple terms, your muscles are still being fed while you’re sleeping.

The tub of this protein supplement will still contain around twenty five to thirty grams of protein per scoop. It is also a highly recommended product when looking for that extra edge in building muscle.

Food

Last, but certainly not least… FOOD!

I feel that I do not need to speak on the topic of food. You will need to eat, eat, and EAT to get the huge muscles that you’ve been hoping for. Depending on your goal of bulking or cutting you will need to decide how much protein, carbohydrates, and fat required for each day.

Remember, without food and proper diet, protein supplements won’t help! Eat a lot and Eat Smart!
